The MacRumors Show: iPhone 17's 'Awe Dropping' Accessories

Following the announcement of Apple's upcoming "Awe dropping" event, on this week's episode of The MacRumors Show we talk through all of the new accessories rumored to debut alongside the iPhone 17 lineup.

We take a closer look at Apple's invite for "Awe dropping;" the design could hint at the ‌iPhone 17‌'s new thermal system with vapor chamber cooling and a more heat-conductive aluminum chassis. The orange and blue also likely hints at the purported orange color option for the iPhone 17 Pro and the blue color finish for the ‌iPhone 17‌ Air.

New "Liquid Silicone" cases are rumored to debut alongside the ‌iPhone 17‌, as well as more premium "TechWoven" cases. TechWoven is expected to take the place of Apple's previous FineWoven and leather cases, but with improved durability. The ‌iPhone 17‌ Air could also get a Smart Battery and an iPhone 4-style bumper case. All of the new cases are expected to feature support for a "Crossbody Strap," a new magnetic lanyard accessory.

Meanwhile, the long-awaited AirPods Pro 3 could arrive at the event. The new model is expected to feature heart-rate monitoring, improved active noise cancellation, tweaked earbuds, and a slightly smaller charging case with a hidden capacitive pairing button. The ‌iPhone 17 Pro‌ may also offer reverse wireless charging for AirPods.

No. And nothing about this update warrants the use of the word ‘awe’ ar all. Unless there’s some new revolutionary tech then it is a minor spec bump at best. Most exciting thing I’ve read so far is the dual video using front and back cameras and a possible bump to 24mp on the front facing camera. Other than that nothing that warrants the hyperbole of ‘awe’ or ‘hame changer’.

I’ve updated annually for the last decade. This year I think I will let common sense prevail and sit it out.
Agreed, it’s almost because of articles like this is why we can’t have nice things (I know I’m exaggerating). But getting people hyped for minuscule or meaningless updates for no reason is why apple keeps getting away with it year after year.

Is ‘Awe dropping’ even a phrase?

@Dan Barbera you and @Hartley need to come up with something more educational and interesting to keep your viewership. These podcasts are getting more boring and nonsensical each week. We need to hear about things of substance; not iPhones color rumors and size/orientation of camera bumps.

Probably could place blame on Timmy Apple for lack of vision/innovation. Nowadays seems like all Apple does is sell vanilla ice cream pretending it is something else entirely.
I was about to post something very similar to the first paragraph. Maybe only podcasts when there's something interesting. It feels like you're padding.

Don't agree with the second paragraph.

I'm so over buying a new phone. And you know what? that previous 'Apple Intelligence ready' deception isn't persuading me now. Just saying. I'm pretty sure I'll get past that in a couple of years. That is, if they make progress within a couple of years LOL
