People pay a subscription to play games like this ?
Does it really need to be explained that there are a bunch of other games of various types to choose from, targeting various age and interest ranges?

Yes, it does, once a week.

To me, this looks more like a $.99 game :).
*Remembers a time when terrible NES games cost the equivalent of $150, and thinks of people today complaining a game costs more than 99¢.

Nope. Not even interested in trying it for free if this is the kind of game available. This seems like a service where you get unlimited access to games you'd normally pay $1-$5 for anyway. Thanks but no thanks.

If there are very immersive, complex games there, such as FPS or RPG types, then maybe I'll give it a try.

There are very few games like that, especially in the FPS category. Apple has a certain branding style when it comes to the Arcade games, and they're pretty soft on certain kinds of violence. Unless there's a game where you kill people who are mean to the environment, the typical shooter isn't gonna make it in.

There are several RPGs, but whether they're good or not I can't really tell you because that's not the kind of game I'm interested in or have any business evaluating.

I'm enjoying Arcade because $5/month isn't much, and it has several titles so far that I like. What I'm after are games that I can just pop into on the couch for 20 minutes here and there, without any nonsense. I have the new 2020 iPad Pro and a PS4 controller, which is a pretty incredible experience.

If you know you only want a console experience, with anything resembling COD and other big console titles, no it won't be for you at all.
