doodlejumpDoodle Jump, one of the best selling games ever on the iPhone, is finally making the leap to the iPad. The Pusenjak brothers have sold more than 10 million copies of Doodle Jump for iPhone, and hope to sell just as many copies on the iPad. The iPad version will be slightly more expensive, as is typical for iPhone to iPad transitions, selling for $2.99.

All the graphics have been redone specifically for the iPad, but All Things Digital's Peter Kafka noted there weren't any big changes made to the game and he didn't notice any big differences between the iPhone and iPad versions. "Still plenty of fun, though."

Doodle Jump for iPad costs $2.99 on the App Store [iTunes], and $0.99 for the iPhone [iTunes].

No universal app? :/

No, because they want those who bought it a year or two ago for the iPhone when it came out to fork out again. (out of nolstalgia or what ever.)

My 6 year old plays the iPhone version on my iPad at 2x zoom, and it does the job just fine. (I think his high score is >120,000, not bad for a 6 y.o)

I can't believe the number of people who moan about the pricing of apps that only cost a couple of dollars when they run on devices that cost literally hundreds of dollars. Get a sense of perspective and drop the misplaced sense of entitlement that app developers owe you some kind of free ride...
Yeah the constant complaining about pricing of apps is pretty ridiculous. Doodle Jump came out for iPhone, for a buck or two. Now it's out for iPad, a different device. Granted most of the code stays the same, but it's not just a matter of resizing images, you also have to test it and support it, and often they'll add iPad exclusive content or modes. That's not worth another few bucks? Especially if you already like the game?!

Now, perhaps Apple could consider some sort of "gaming/app store club", where you can pay $30 a month and get all the games you can play...but if you quit the club, your games are deleted. I doubt that would please people very much, at any price point.

Besides, people should want greedy developers...it means they're dedicated to making hit games.

I like the argument that because they sold a million on iPhone, the iPad version should be free/discounted. LOL.

Anyway, we can all vote with our money...don't like it, then don't buy. Not everything can be free, and the iDevices certainly aren't.

Now I'm off to pre-order NHL 12 for $60, like I do every year...so I certainly can't complain about $3.
