Apple Seeds First Mac OS X 10.6.8 Build to Developers

snow leopard questionMacRumors has received word that Apple today seeded the first developer build of Mac OS X 10.6.8. The build, termed 10K521, comes nearly two months after the public launch of Mac OS X 10.6.7.

No details on changes included in the update have yet been revealed.

Work on Mac OS X 10.6.8 comes as Apple continues to move toward a "summer" release of Mac OS X Lion, which has been in developer previews for some time now and will undoubtedly be a major focus of Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference early next month. Consequently, Mac OS X 10.6.8 may be the final maintenance update for Snow Leopard, depending on how long it takes to make it through the refinement process and Apple's final timeframe for launching Lion.

Have you tried disabling CRL in Keychain.app's certificate preferences? I'm getting a ton of beachballs in the App Store when it is set to "best attempt".

Haha I was just about to post that. Saw that tip on HardMac's Twitter feed awhile back.

hardmac_dot_com: If the Mac App Store takes forever to load, you probably have "CRL checking" activated in Keychain.app preferences.

I am going to hope probably in vain, for an OpenGL update. If Lion doesn't bring OpenGL 3.3, then I'll probably switch to Ubuntu/Fedora or Windows 7 because I'm sick of dealing with inferior 3D performance on the apps I use.

I'm glad 10.6 is getting another update. 10.6.7 really slowed down access to the App Store.

And unless 10.7 has some killer, and I mean KILLER, upgrades, I expect to stay with Snow Leopard. It works great for me, and if it ain't broke....

Well for me Apple's refusal to offer a matte screen option on their iMacs means I'll also be stuck at 10.6.x as I refuse to buy a new system.

Please inform Apple and us of your decision as soon as you switch to Windows, we all wish you the very best with your new platform and we doubt we should hear from you on this forum, bye.
