Apple Helping to Expand Music Education to More Students and Schools

Apple is expanding its partnership with the Save The Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting music education in U.S. public schools. The organization donates musical instruments and technology to schools and much more.

"We're thrilled to be expanding our partnership with Save the Music, bringing music education to even more schools across the country," said Apple CEO Tim Cook.

Apple's expanded partnership will help to bring music programming to nearly 50 more schools.

Cook visited the Wadleigh Secondary School for the Performing and Visual Arts in New York City to listen to music created by students there. In a short video, the students can be seen using Apple products like the iPad, Apple Pencil, and AirPods Max.

This sounds wonderful. Kudos to Apple. I just hope the kids are learning to play real instruments and not just doing some digital sampling/DJ stuff.
I did not see a single real instrument in that classroom from the video in Cook's tweet. It appears this is about creating music using Apple products. Basically, it's an ad to sell Apple products. But it could be different at other schools.

Usually instruments come from school fund or parents. What is usually lacking is infrastructure like mixer boards computers and so on. I volunteer for a HS band program. Every bit helps, and Apple is doing its thing. If you wnat to help out stop bashing and donate instruments to schools and needy. Lot of these band programs are supported by parent run booster boards/fund raising.

One thing I never considered was the impact that easy access to GarageBand may have in fueling interest to learn an actual instrument or how to read music, etc. After playing with it on her iPad, my daughter is certainly much more interested in messing with the actual real-life piano

Also garage band actually has pretty good sample library
