The MacRumors Show: What's Coming at the 'Apple Experience'?

We talk through everything to expect at Apple's upcoming "Experience" on March 4, on this week's episode of The MacRumors Show.

Earlier this week, Apple announced a "special Apple Experience" for the media in New York, London, and Shanghai, taking place on March 4, 2026 at 9:00am ET. It is notable that Apple is specifically using the word "experience," rather than "event." Unlike a full live-streamed event from Apple Park, the March 4 event in other cities is likely to be smaller in scale.

The launch of several new Apple products is believed to be imminent. We're most likely to see the announcement of the iPhone 17e, a spec-bumped successor to the iPhone 16e, with rumored upgrades including an A19 chip, MagSafe, and Apple's C1X and N1 wireless chips. The device will apparently have a notch despite earlier rumors mentioning a Dynamic Island, and pricing will continue to start at $599 in the United States.

The all-new low-cost MacBook is likely to arrive, featuring the A18 Pro chip, a 12.9-inch display, and a selection of fun color options. The MacBook Pro is also expected to receive the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, and PCIe 5.0 support for faster SSD speeds.

Additionally, the iPad Air is due a bump up to the M4 chip, while the entry-level iPad is expected to get the A18 chip with Apple Intelligence support.

A refreshed MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and Studio Display are also possibilities, along with a new Apple TV and HomePod mini. The event could could include a demo of immersive Formula 1 content on the Apple Vision Pro, too.

We also discuss iOS 26.4, which is now available in beta. The update includes a new Playlist Playground feature that lets users create a playlist with a text-based prompt, refinements to Apple Music's design, videos in Apple Podcasts, end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for ‌RCS‌ messages, and more. @arn As one who has worked exclusively behind a Mac, as a creative professional, my entire near 3-decade long career - and [hopefully] counting - for several corporations across the globe, I've had to get real chummy with many a Windows-based IT department. And in every instance, there's always one sympathizer who would align with your "if I was in charge of an IT department, [I'd] be pushing for people to get this [MacBook]" type of comment. 😉

But the reality is, that is never happening. Why? Two reasons:*

1. Upfront cost. While this topic has been discussed/debated ad nauseam, for decades, initial cost is but one metric to consider. It just so happens to be THE metric the C-suite cares about most. While cost-over-time is another worthy metric, few execs have the patience to consider. And why would they? They're working/thinking on a frantic Squawk Talk basis. And savings-over-time is too abstract for budget planning.

2. Job security. A Windows-based box requires constant maintenance, patching and fiddling to ensure max up-time. Constant maintenance, patching and fiddling requires a team. Thus, you will never see a CTO recommending an organization move away from the need them or their team. Heck no! Windows for life! A Mac-based enterprise would need one IT professional. And they'd be bored.**

Before everyone breaks out the pitchforks, there's a pinch of hyperbole in the mix here (obviously). I mean, it is Friday. 🤪

* There are many more, obviously.

** I actually did work for one tech startup that was all Mac-based. Not a single PC in the mix. It was surreal. And amazing. They probably fell into the 100-500 employees category. And, for real, they had one IT guy (and his boss, whom I never met/saw). And he did not seem stressed, in the least. I learned a lot from him, as I have from all the IT folks with whom I've had the pleasure of working.

Edit: I hate typos.

Why has no one thought to suggested that this is a NEW SIRI demo, with it featured on new products.???. the HomePod with a screen, the startrek pin, MacBook with builtin 5G and possibly a preview of the future glasses (with screens). live demo's with small controlled groups seem like what they do when there is a delay in software and that just happened with Siri.

I try to buy a normal HomePod this morning and the vendor told me that he can’t order it and his system says end of life … although Apple gets stock on his website
