Apple Store Temporarily Relocates at California's Largest Shopping Mall

Apple today announced that its retail store at the South Coast Plaza shopping mall, in Costa Mesa, California, has temporarily relocated.

Apple has opened a temporary store in the mall, just down the hall from its original location, which will presumably be renovated. The company has not indicated when the original store will reopen, but its renovations often take months.

Opened in 2001, Apple South Coast Plaza was one of the company's first retail locations, in the heart of Orange County. The mall is the largest in California.

Apple already alerted some customers about the store relocation via email last week, and today it posted a notice on the store's page on its website.

Update: Apple has shared a photo of the temporary store — see below.

That place is always a zoo, the one in Fashion Island is way more accessible.

I always find it surprising how a ‘temporary’ Apple Store looks better and more permanent than many normal stores in the mall. They invest a surprising amount of money in making the temporary store look and feel very similar. This isn’t a just canvas tarp with the company logo hung over the back wall.

I think it’s the 2nd largest mall in the USA.

Took me like 10 minutes to find the relocated store last Sunday as the mall's directory wasn't updated and the original location's signage wasn't big enough for me to notice.

*update apologies old topic but Apple has now bought out nearly entire lower level inside South Coast Plaza they're currently located in looks like a huge new store coming soon

Thanks for the update and photos! It looks like the new location will be bigger than the original.

So, I also noticed that Apple Victoria Gardens, one of the two SoCal Inland Empire Apple Stores, is getting a makeover soon. They’ll have a temporary spot behind their current one. After 13 years, they’re finally getting that vintage D remodel, but since it’s a smaller store than the South Coast Plaza, they’ve set a specific end date for it in fall (which may be on iPhone 18 release day). They close on April 12-14 to move into the temporary unit
