If you have access to Microcenter they show up as $450. Makes a great server for stuff.
I snagged the base Mac mini the other week for $449 from Micro Center. Finally got me to bite the bullet so I could move some dev projects off my aging 2018 Intel Mac mini.

The performance boost of the base M4 over the Intel i7 is unreal. Projects that took 30-45 seconds to compile in Xcode on the i7 take 8-10 seconds on the M4.

Got one a few months back when it was on sale again for the $499. Easily best bang for the buck at this price. Been using Logic Pro and my DAW with zero issues on the base model.

Decent discounts. I would get one if I could set it up using my iPad.
You can, with this $20 adapter:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0DQDBBXVX/ref=dp_ob_neva_mobile

after initial setup, you can configure the Mac Mini to automatically connect with the iPad as main display with either direct usb c (dp/video) cable or wireless.

you just need that adapter once.
