These 10 Apple Stores Are Opening or Closing Later This Year

Apple will be permanently closing a retail store in China next month, but it is also in the process of opening several new stores around the world.

As reported by the South China Morning Post today, Apple Parkland in Dalian, China will be closing on Saturday, August 9 at 8 p.m. local time, according to the store's listing on Apple's website. This is a permanent store closure, rather than a relocation.

In a statement shared with MacRumors today, Apple said that it decided to close the store because the Parkland shopping mall (recently rebranded as Intime City) has lost several retailers. Apple confirmed that all affected employees at the store will have the opportunity to continue to work for the company going forward.

Apple's full statement:

At Apple, we're always focused on providing an exceptional experience for all of our customers both online and at more than 50 Apple Store locations across Greater China. Given the departure of several retailers at the Parkland Mall, we have made the decision to close our store there on August 9, 2025. We love serving the Dalian community, and all of our valued team members will have the opportunity to continue their roles with Apple. We look forward to welcoming customers at our nearby Olympia 66 store, as well as on Apple.com and the Apple Store app.

According to a source familiar with the matter, the mall's landlord has been facing financial struggles and litigation for several years, leading to the mall's majority shareholder assuming full control of leasing and operations earlier this year.

Other retailers that have departed the mall include Coach, Hugo Boss, Kate Spade, Michael Kors, UGG, and others, the source said.

Apple has more than 50 other stores across Greater China, and its all-new Uniwalk Qianhai store in Shenzhen opens on August 16.

Apple has announced many store openings and closures this year, so we have shared a list of all of the locations below as a recap.

I was under the impression that none of the Apple stores were open 24/7 . In that case, it seems like they all open and close :).

Still wishing for a single official Apple Store in Denmark (preferably Copenhagen).
With +70% of Denmarks population using an iPhone I can't comprehend why we still do not have an official Apple Store.
Come on Apple.

Or do at least explain your rationale behind this total lack of presence.

Because you have Apple Store Emporia next door with prices lower than in Denmark. Why would you not take the train to save lots of money at Emporia?
Apple knows this and a Copenhagen Apple Store would not get many customers.
What are you talking about? The base MBA model is around $100 cheaper in Denmark than in Sweden. Add a train fare on top of that.

Either way, also crossing fingers that Apple will find a nice spot for a store in CPH at some point.

The only "premium" reseller (Humac) has the worst customer service and cheap looking stores.

In my opinion, the Apple Store experience has noticeably changed since COVID — and not necessarily for the better. I can't quite put my finger on it, but something about the atmosphere and overall service feels different, even off.
What do you think?
I agree with you. The lack of dedicated space for technical support and the strange "buy at the table with the product, then move to a random table to set-up your product with a different person, while someone is giving an amplified presentation right next to you," has made the store a bit of a mess. Fortunately, Apple appears to have realized this and new stores are adding a bit more structure back.

Can't agree more. Even though Apple Store's service is still great and the stores are still pretty lively compared to pre-COVID, there are some changes I don't like. In June 2019, I watched the WWDC 2019 event livestream at my local Apple Store with the crowd. The event livestream was played on the big screen in the store, the same one they used for Today at Apple. Until today, they still haven't brought this tradition back. I asked the employee at my local Apple Store, and they said they are not doing it this year.
