Get the 13-Inch M2 MacBook Air for the Record Low Price of $699

Amazon and Best Buy are discounting Apple's 13-inch M2 MacBook Air with 16GB of RAM and 256GB SSD storage down to $699.00 in a few colors. This is a $300 discount on the previous generation M2 MacBook Air, and a new record low price for the computer.

Although this is a previous generation device, it will work great for anyone who doesn't need the performance gains introduced with the newer Apple silicon chips, especially at this discounted price. Apple Changes How You Order a Mac

Saturday January 31, 2026 10:51 am PST by
Apple recently updated its online store with a new ordering process for Macs, including the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro. There used to be a handful of standard configurations available for each Mac, but now you must configure a Mac entirely from scratch on a feature-by-feature basis. In other words, ordering a new Mac now works much like ordering an...

Doesn't meet my personal needs BUT I find it hard not to recommend this to the average user. I would recommend this to my family and friends.

Wow. Macs have never been this cheap for the customer. Or this profitable for Apple.
Switching to Apple Silicon was an epic win.

Also 13” M3 Air for $799 and 15” M3 Air for $999. Those are pretty good deals too.
$999 for 15-inch M3 MacBook Air 16/256 from Amazon is not a good deal when you can get the same thing for $929 from Apple Refurb ('https://www.apple.com/shop/product/G1BT0LL/A/Refurbished-15-inch-MacBook-Air-Apple-M3-Chip-with-8%E2%80%91Core-CPU-and-10%E2%80%91Core-GPU-Starlight').

I suspect a 13-inch M3 MacBook Air 16/256 (none in stock at the moment) will be less than Amazon's $799 price too.

For $100 more than Amazon's M3 MacBook Air 16/256 prices, I'd take a new M4 MacBook Air 16/256 from Apple Education store.

256Gb is not enough for most people anymore on a computer. It's just sad.
I disagree. The 8GB was a much bigger issue than 256GB of storage. Unless they're storing all their photos on their computer 256GB is fine for most users. I think it should be 512GB though since it's so cheap.

Doesn't meet my personal needs BUT I find it hard not to recommend this to the average user. I would recommend this to my family and friends.
It’s not good enough for me but it will do for my friends, family and the pet dog/cat. Their workload isn’t as demanding as mine (rebooting, scrolling menus and browsing macrumors in safari).

There is a reason they are having trouble giving these away.

They didn't have to do this for the iPhone SE 2022. Those just disappeared with 0 price adjustment during their entire life. In fact, they dropped the charging brick midway which means the price actually went up!

That's how bad their new products are.
Probably just clearing out the shelves in anticipation of higher demand for new Macs and iPads. The reviews are overwhelmingly positive.
