New iPad Pro Reportedly Launching This Year

Apple plans to release at least one new iPad Pro model this year, according to a supplier-focused report today from Korean website The Elec. It is likely that the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models would be updated simultaneously.

After receiving an OLED display last year, the report said the iPad Pro will receive only "minor" changes this year. Overall, the next iPad Pro is expected to look "similar" to the current models, suggesting that the device will not receive any major design changes this year. All in all, expect a spec bump only for the next iPad Pro models.

The report is focused on the possibility of South Korean company LX Semicon supplying display drivers for the new iPad Pro this year. It said that components for the device would go into mass production in April or May, suggesting that the next iPad Pro models are still many months away. A launch will likely occur later in the year.

Earlier this month, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said Apple could have its next-generation M5 chip ready for the next iPad Pro by late 2025 or early 2026.

The current iPad Pro models with OLED displays and the M4 chip launched in May 2024.

Earlier this year, Apple is expected to release new iPad Air and entry-level iPad 11 models. Those devices will likely launch by March or April. According to Gurman, the iPad 11 will be equipped with an A17 Pro chip and 8GB of RAM for Apple Intelligence, while a recent leak indicated that the new iPad Air models will have an M3 chip.

It is unclear if the iPad mini will be updated this year, but it is typically only updated once every several years. After receiving the A17 Pro chip and more last year, the iPad mini might be the only iPad model that is not updated in 2025.

Seriously, just bought one for Christmas. This is ridiculous, can I have a device for at least 1 - 2 years before a new one. No one needs a new iPad every year.
The reason Apple releases every year (or so) is because of people who want or need to update older devices. Since you just purchased, Apple releasing another model should be irrelevant to you. Not sure why you are complaining.

Why is this needed? iPad Pro is so overpowered for what it can do with that extremely limited iPadOS. Apple could update it every 3 years and you wouldn’t see a difference. Make a proper iPad mini instead!

This is the kind of behavior that got Apple in trouble a long time ago. They're drowning themselves in product launches that don't benefit the consumer or the company. IMHO, the current iPad HW doesn't have any limitations, it's the software (iPad OS).

That’s right folks, the M4 iPad Pro is old news. It’s time to get excited about the ALL NEW M5 iPad Pro! This is the best, most powerful iPad M-series processor that Apple has ever released in an iPad Pro. And with all this power, customers still have the same, best-in-class, all-day battery life. And Apple didn’t stop there. For the first time ever, the iPad Pro is built with Apple Intelligence built in, taking the iPad Pro to a whole new level. This truly is the iPad Pro for professionals. Apple thinks you’re gonna love it can’t wait to see the incredible things customers are able to do with the ALL NEW M5 iPad Pro!

I find it funny some people here assume that everybody has the latest M4 iPad Pro. Apple updates most devices yearly with small updates. And most people will upgrade every few years when their old device is not sufficient anymore.

People who are updating yearly are probably not the norm.

So I welcome any update as it will make any future upgrades better. It will maybe convince some M1 iPad Pro people to upgrade this year.

Exactly - No one needs a new iPad every year. Including you. You just bought one, so be happy with it. You dont need a new one for a long, long time.

Yearly upgrades are great because this allows users to have current, competitive hardware anytime they want or need to make a purchase. No more long unpredictable cycle times. It makes planning, budgeting, and knowing what's coming much easier. This is a win-win-win for everyone except for people whose ego requires them to somehow have the latest thing to show off as a status symbol.
