RIP, iPhone 6

The once mega-popular iPhone 6 has reached the end of the road.

Apple today added the iPhone 6 to the obsolete products list on its website, just over eight years after the smartphone was released.

Now that the iPhone 6 is classified as obsolete, it can no longer be taken to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for repairs.

Apple considers a product "obsolete" once seven years have passed since the company last distributed it for sale. Apple had already classified the larger iPhone 6 Plus as obsolete in April this year, but the smaller iPhone 6 had remained available at a discount through resellers in select countries for longer, so it was only listed as obsolete now.

On the software side, iOS 13 dropped support for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in 2019.

Apple launched the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in September 2014, and they were two of the most popular iPhone models ever, in part because they had larger screens than previous iPhone models. These were also the first iPhone models with Apple Pay.
