Apple Says Some Users Experiencing iMessage and FaceTime Issues [Updated]

iMessage and FaceTime are acting up for some users, according to Apple's system status page.

General Apps Messages
Some users are "experiencing a problem" with iMessage and FaceTime, the page says. Apple says it is "investigating" and will provide a status update when possible.

The issues began shortly after 5 a.m. Pacific Time, according to Apple.

At this time, there does not appear to be a widespread iMessage or FaceTime outage. Instead, the services are experiencing "performance" issues, according to Apple. We'll update this story when Apple's system status page says the issues are resolved.

Update — 7:30 a.m. Pacific Time: Apple says the issues have been resolved.

Like clockwork. Key Apple apps predictably have issues every major release. Never install the iOS X.0.x release if you don't want headaches. Always wait for X.1.x that follows soon after.

The number of iMessage users worldwide is estimated to be somewhere north of 1 BILLION. Just using a round one billion, if 1% of users have trouble, that's 10 million people that can't communicate reliably.

Most of the time I get messages on my iPhone and Mac at nearly the exact same time. But sometimes, a message will show up on my iPhone but will take up to a minute to show up on my Mac. It's weird.
