Some of these specialized challenges my watch will notify me, but mostly not. It would be nice to get a reminder the morning of.

If I had a National Park even remotely close to me, I'd do this.
all you have to do is a 20 min workout, of any kind ... it used to be outdoor walk/run if I recall but they changed that. I missed this in the past while biking for 2hrs through a national park ...

I mean, the watch already does this last I checked
How exactly? Is it a setting? I have literally never received a notification in all the years I’ve owned an Apple Watch

I'd imagine it would be to get people who don't normally exercise to get out there. Honestly, people who already exercise regularly probably don't need a badge to get them out there. And if they're int that, there are plenty of strava challenges to join. But for someone who doesn't normally get out there, a digital badge might be just the thing they need to kick start their healthier life.
Fair enough, I don't say you are wrong or if that is the goal that Apple are doing it wrong. But 20 min for something that supposedly should be carried out in a national park, is to me more looking like a failed attempt of visiting the park. It would take me 20 min to walk back and forth to my grocery store.

If instead they put a badge for "leave the car home when going shopping day" and have a 20 min walk as a goal for that, it would make more sense.

What is the point of these challenges when the bar is so low to get them?
