Since I complained about it for years... It is so nice now that Apple now has a "preconfig/retail available" 16/512 configuration of the MBA that retailers like Bestbuy, Amazon and Costco can now carry and discount. Hopefully that comes to the iMac soon.

The real story here is paying $430 to add an extra 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, a configuration that they simply ought to be coming with anyway in 2024. That’s adding almost 50% to the base model price(!!) for maybe $50 worth of components (probably much less with Apple’s buying power).

Perhaps if Apple just boosted the base model specs a little, they wouldn’t have to discount them so much?

Same price as last week right? https://9to5mac.com/2024/06/07/macbook-air-m3-deals-2/

Sure, it’s a record because it’s still that price, but then you might as well have this story every few seconds. Right now, it’s still a record, just like it was 30 minutes ago. And guess what? It’s still a record now.

Wait, there’s a record now too!

At $899, it’s almost hard to complain about the skimpy RAM and storage space, almost.. ?

For me to buy a Macbook it needs at least 1TB storage and 16GB RAM at maybe $1000 price. I may have to run Windows on a VM and would like some storage space and RAM for that. But until then I guess I'll wait.

Killer price. 8gb is fine for most people and people complain about storage but 256gb is plenty. I don't know what they're doing with theirs to fill up so quick, I can't even fill up 40gb.I have tons of photos and documents on mine. All my music is in Youtube music and all my movies and tv shows are on my google drive.

If I ever needed more than 256gb I would just use a portable ssd.
