I don’t see the point of a gps only Apple watch. You’re still tied down to your phone. It’s so much easier to have a cellular phone and just leave it on the counter as you take off for a run or a bike ride. Yes it costs more but the convenience is worth it to me.
I enjoy being disconnected on my runs. I leave the phone at home or in the car and just take my watch. Most of the places I trail run don't have cell service anyway, from any provider. I take my inReach if it's a long 6+ mile run.

No distractions.

Apple should do something crazy and add the blood oxygen sensor to this model.

I don't use my (first generation, GPS-only SE) Watch as a phone replacement. It's only a fitness device for me. (I know that gives away the fact that I'm not a serious athlete since its measurements can be off/inaccurate.) I very much enjoy closing all my rings each day, and even trying to get the badge challenges each month. My physical fitness is very good for a man my age, and I attribute at least some of that to the Watch's motivation. I'll even pop into the Mindfulness app for a few minutes when I remember it.

I could easily leave my phone at home for a walk or jog if I could figure out how to get Podcasts and Audible to sync better. Why can't I choose what specific episodes/titles to send to my watch in the Watch app? So I just take my phone, and it doesn't really bother me.

Likely not happening

The whole grab of the SE is a cheaper model that omits some features, and adding the blood oxygen sensor would pretty much defeat the purpose of the SE in the first place

Im so glad they have the SE models around... I still have a series 4 but I really only use the most basic of features and so my next Apple Watch is going to be whatever SE is about at the time...

Agreed. During the Holidays, I bought the 44mm SE at BB for $200 open box. It was pristine...no issues. I use it for the basic functions: notifications, calls, short text replies, stopwatch/timer, and activity tracking. As a result, I don't need to carry my phone around the house, which is nice.
