Is it just me, or do these constant sales of the low end macs devalue the Apple brand? Apple feels a bit like JC Penny these days…
There’s this weird idea that Apple is some kind of exclusive semi-luxury brand. It isn’t. It’s a brand for the masses. Apple is just really good at making themselves SEEM luxury while making devices for Jane and Johnny Lunchpail. They do this by making great products that, while seemingly expensive, are priced just at the place where WANT and NEED collide. (I want it, but do I need it?)

Sales must be lower than expected?
Not necessarily. I read an article recently where these third party retailers will undercut prices on popular newly released products just to drive traffic and grab some headlines...... Even if they take a slight loss on it, they more than make up for that by driving people to the site who sometimes end up buying accessories, or just browse the computer but change their mind then end up grabbing a few other odds and ends.
