It's going to be super difficult to decide either the new M2 15 inch macbook air or a 2021 16 inch macbook pro. They will be the same price. Literally 16 inch beats it in every way except portability.
The 16" is a monster if you travel.... I since picked up a 13" MBA for my travels and the 16 inches stays at home...
The rumored 15" MBA will be interesting...

I was waiting for the 15 inch MacBook Air, but Costco had the 16 inch M1 MacBook Pro (base model) on sale for only $1799. The only "negative" for me, the only major difference between the two, was giving up having the M2 chip and settling for the older M1. For my personal needs, that difference was highly negligible. The higher weight of the 16 inch MacBook Pro isn't a factor for me at all, as I don't plan on traveling with it or taking it anywhere (that's what my iPad Pros are for). The positives far outweighed simply getting the latest chip available--the even bigger screen, the Liquid Retina XDR and Promotion display (both specs which I love in my M1 12.9 iPad Pro). I was even able to get an additional $300 off because of a promotion with my credit card, which effectively made it $1500--but even without that it was a spectacular deal, for me. Anyway, I figured that the base model 15 inch M2 MacBook Air will probably be around $1500 already, so it was an easy choice.
