Apple Releases Safari Technology Preview 167 With Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements

Apple today released a new update for Safari Technology Preview, the experimental browser Apple first introduced in March 2016. Apple designed the ‌Safari Technology Preview‌ to test features that may be introduced into future release versions of Safari.

Safari Technology Preview Feature
‌Safari Technology Preview‌ release 167 includes bug fixes and performance improvements for Web Inspector, CSS, JavaScript, WebAssembly, Media, Popover, Rendering, Web API, Accessibility, MathML, and SVG.

The current ‌Safari Technology Preview‌ release is version 16.4 and is compatible with machines running macOS Ventura and macOS Monterey.

The ‌Safari Technology Preview‌ update is available through the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences or System Settings to anyone who has downloaded the browser. Full release notes for the update are available on the Safari Technology Preview website.

This version seems completely broken. I have to restart it frequently throughout the day and it claims every tab open is using a lot of energy. One of the pages it claims this for is a simple HTML form I use for converting UNIX timestamps, it's 1.2K and has no CSS or JS in it! I'm betting there's a memory leak somewhere and it's Safari using all the resources, not the pages themselves.

But version 16.5 is 18615.2.1 while STP is Safari 16.4, WebKit 18616.1.8.2. Is a puzzlement.
