Apple Announces Japanese New Year Promotion With Limited-Edition AirTag

In celebration of the Japanese New Year, Apple will be holding a two-day promotion that offers customers in Japan a free Apple gift card worth up to ¥32,000 with the purchase of an eligible Apple product on January 2 and January 3.

Apple Japanese New Year 2023
Gift card amounts will range from ¥4,000 for second-generation AirPods and other accessories to ¥32,000 for the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro.

In addition to a gift card, the first 30,000 customers in Japan who purchase a new iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12, or iPhone SE from Apple during the promotion will receive a limited-edition AirTag with a Year of the Rabbit engraving for 2023.

Apple has shared full terms and conditions for the promotion with additional details. Notably, iPhone orders placed through the Apple Store app will not qualify for a limited-edition AirTag, so make sure to complete the purchase on Apple's website. The promotion will also be available at Apple's retail stores in Japan.

Apple has run a Japanese New Year promotion for many years. Last year's promotion offered a limited-edition AirTag for the Year of the Tiger.

In Japan, we don't get many special event sales or incentives. Unlike the rest of the world, we don't get black Friday sales extreme, Giftcards happen every rabbit year ( joke ) seldomly. it's limited to what is allowed. It's nice to see. But Japanese buyers don't have many chances to get discounted items from apple. we more than less pay full price. It's nice to see this happening here. ty for bringing this up. I try the airtag. the rest pass.

Well, there is always Kakaku, but yeah Apple themselves don't do much for consumers here in Japan. Still, I've always found the warrantee service really good. Fixing batteries and that sort of thing has always been sorted out quickly, and usually not cost much. The first time I ever went to Apple Ginza for a bad battery in my MB Pro 17 Core (the first Intel) they just gave me a new battery. Couldn't believe it.

As for the rabbit air tags - this is a half joke, but I do wonder - do we have to take these to the shrine for 'recycling' at the end of next year and then buy new ones with the next year's animal? We do it with omamori, and other things we buy from shrines, and they are all related to the new year, just as these Rabbit Airtags are.
