At $250 off, this is the lowest price we've ever seen on this model of the 16-inch MacBook Pro, which Apple updated last year. We typically track deals on the 14-inch model of the 2021 MacBook Pro more often, and this is one of the first notable markdowns on the 16-inch notebook in a few months.

These MacBook Pro models feature an all-new design for Apple's notebook lineup, including more ports, the removal of the Touch Bar, the reintroduction of MagSafe, a slimmer bezel, a mini-LED display, and M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. Although there's no Touch Bar, there is still Touch ID support with the Touch ID button on the keyboard.

It’s a lot of computing for most people.
Yeah. I really just want a 16" MBP for my bad eyes without an M1 Max/Pro. It's crazy to go from a MBA $999 to 16" starting at $2500 just because I need a larger screen (I'm a contractor so I cannot depend on having a large external display in random network closets and desks where I work).

I just purchased a MBP 14" and within 24 hours found it severely underperforming. After talking with Apple support we realized I am hosed because 16 GB of ram is not sufficient for use of all the stock apps, and you can't just buy a Mac with more ram.
"you can't just buy a Mac with more ram". No idea why you're saying this, because Apple's website clearly allows you to buy a 14" MBP with 16, 32, or 64 GB RAM (though to get the 64 GB you need to pay an add'l. $200 for the upgrade from the Pro to the binned Max).

Maybe what you meant is that once you've purchased with a specific amount of RAM, you can't upgrade. But you're still certainly not hosed, since you said you found the issue within 24 hours, so you're within the window to return it and buy one with more RAM.

I think they could re-introduce the old generation 16 inch form factor with the new SoC for those who just want a larger display.

It is annoying. You also get the higher quality audio and mini-LED screen, plus the ports for the money, but yeah, quite a huge price increase for just that. A same spec 14" vs 16" MBP is $150 price diff, so you'd think a 16" MBA would only be around $100-$150 more than the 13" MBA, and would sell well.
Plus the unnecessary extra weight and bulk of the 14"/16" MBP's vs. a 15" Air, if you only need the performance of an Air. I also think the 15" Air would sell well.
