Apple Now Accepting UPI, Rupay Cards and Net Banking for App Store Payments in India

Apple has started accepting App Store and iTunes payments in India using UPI and Rupay cards and Net Banking.

The acceptance of RuPay and Unified Payments Interface (UPI) cards means Apple users in India will be able to use the domestic payment systems as alternatives to regular credit/debit card payment methods to add funds to their Apple ID balance.

They can then use their ‌Apple ID‌ balance to buy apps, games, music, iCloud storage, and more in Apple's online stores.

RuPay was launched in India in 2012, and facilitates real-time electronic payments at all Indian banks and financial institutions. The massively popular instant payments network UPI followed in 2016.

Credit cards are still the most convenient way to pay. I feel this is wasted effort.
Credit Card is only the most convenient if you can pay with something like Apple Pay. Since that's not available in India, UPI is the most convenient.

Where are you from/do you reside?

The vast majority does not have a creditcard in India, don't have the means to do anything with it.
The majority of the population is still very poor, live on a daily income bases, can't afford a credit card.

You said this

Then followed up with a reply to me down below.

I am from india. Have always stayed in India. The majority that doesn’t have anything to do with a credit card unfortunately doesn’t have anything to do with Apple either.
Credit card use in India is limited, that's my point because most won't use them for the reasons I pointed out before.
Credit cards are by no way the easiest way to pay, for convenience ApplePay on an Apple watch can't be beaten.
There are also simple Apps like the ones mentioned on this topic, there are a lot more people in India using these (transfer) Apps than having credit cards, so your point is moot.
