Verizon Listing AirPods Max in Silver and Space Gray as Shipping Next Week [Updated]

With Apple and several other vendors quoting shipping estimates for the new AirPods Max of well into 2021, those looking to get their hands on Apple's new $549 over-ear headphones sooner than that might want to check out Verizon.

Verizon is currently listing AirPods Max in silver and space gray as estimated to ship by December 18, although we've heard about some customers receiving order confirmations showing delivery on December 14, a day ahead of the official launch.

Other colors are in shorter supply, with Verizon estimating orders for AirPods Max in green will ship around January 8, while sky blue and pink are simply sold out.

Note that Verizon's timeframes are listed as estimates, so there's no guarantee that the carrier will meet those dates, but if you're looking for a purchase option before the holidays and don't think Apple retail stores will have stock next week, Verizon might be your best bet right now.

Update: Verizon is now out of stock of all colors.

I guess so. I’m just wondering how do people know these are better than similarly priced headphones from companies that have been in the high-end headphone business for much longer. I know Apple bought Beats, but they’re still new to this market.
Apple's AirPods business is worth more than the entirety of Sony. That alone should give you confidence that these will be fit for purpose. The R&D budget Apple has is ridiculous compared to it's competitors and Apple now have a track record with good sound. That's not even taking in to account the Beats business of which they will have picked up lots of experience and expertise. If they don't perform like a pair of $550 headphone, you can return them!

It's like the M1 chip. You could say that they are 'new' to the chip business but really they have been making them for years in iPhones and iPads which is why they've just come out of the gates and beat all of the competition. Apple have been in the headphone game for a while now, audio is not a new thing to them.

Thank you MacRumors! Verizon is my carrier and I just logged in and ordered. Says they’ll be here in a few days!

Listen folks... buy what you want (or don’t buy Lol). But people saying “if they were $400 I’d get them” is funny to me. $150 although a difference, isn’t a BIG difference...

To each their own.

Why are people buying up these expensive headphones? Wouldn’t it be good to wait for some reviews?

This sounds promising...

Watching a movie with spatial audio is an experience. According to Apple, spatial audio kicks in when you listen to movies or other video encoded with 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound, or Dolby Atmos. It’s uncanny and very clever when wearing AirPods Pro earbuds; with AirPods Max, it’s absolutely immersive, like something from an attraction at Disney World. Watching an action movie, it’s downright visceral. Get into a movie or show with compatible audio (Disney+’s The Mandalorian is good — it’s a fun show, period, and has great sound design) and you will forget you’re wearing headphones. It really does sound like you’re in a room equipped with theater-quality surround sound speakers. Spatial audio is rich and immersive and crystal clear. Effects and dialog sound like they’re coming from fixed spots around you, not just with direction but with depth. It’s less like wearing headphones and more like wearing an augmented reality audio headset.

I thought so too but then I got broke shamed in the thread of the release 😅
Let people have things I guess if they have extra money to burn 🤷🏽‍♂️
I make 6 digits doesn't mean I'm gonna go splurge 550 on a freaking headphone 😂

Exclusivity. I’m almost tempted to buy because they’re backordered for weeks at Apple.

The entrepreneur in me wants to buy two pairs and sell one on eBay, although I’m beginning to hate the idea of reselling items even if it would subsidize my own pair.
Go for it man even though I stopped with the iPhone 11 release
It wasn’t worth the extra hassle to be sincere
