Subscriptions - death by a thousand cuts. While this is a nice deal, I think there are better less expensive options then paying every month or year

Used to love 1Password, until they turned into a foolish subscription model. I'm not locking myself into a subscription for a password manager. I have since been using the awesome free and open source Bitwarden. Love it!

I've used 1Password for years.... from the standalone app back in the day now to the family plan where my wife and mother in law can all use the same plan. Sharing passwords is easy and the 2FA along with secure notes, etc. Really great app. Works well on Windows and Mac and mobile devices. Pretty happy with this service.

I came from LastPass and before that the old KeePass. While yes, there are free options, the abilities and refinements of 1Password are why I pay for it. I can change something on any device and instantly it is available on any other device I use it on. It works really well for me.

While I dislike it, I get subscriptions to major apps suites like Adobe or Office but for small apps with a single use it's just stupid. Sorry, not happening 1Password.
If anything I’m MORE willing to pay a subscription for a password manager. I expect and want it to continue to be developed and for the services to be rock solid and secure.

Why should I pay for an office suite or photo manipulation tools that are basically static? I can’t think of a single new feature that Adobe and Microsoft have introduced that I rely upon daily.

As for the general disdain for subscriptions, I fully get it. That’s why I don’t indulge companies like Adobe and Microsoft or Intuit. But I also realize that the Pay-once model is probably not sufficient for long term viability.

I love 1PW but not everything needs to be a subscription. I’m *very* happy to buy new versions as major upgrades are rolled out, but the day they require a subscription is the day I find an alternative.

There is where I make my case for people to get a plan together for families.

My father recently suffered a brain incident and it has affected his ability to process information. He had a spreadsheet that had his account information, user ID, and a "coded" message for the password for each account. We spent quite a bit of time trying to decipher or reset passwords so my mom could perform online functions. I've since converted my standalone 1Password app to a family subscription and setup my mom to enter all her account information in a shared vault with myself and my brother. Then we can both help her when she calls with questions.

I love 1Password and it has been great for me with the family plan. I would recommend it, but more importantly, figure out how you will handle this situation while everyone still has the ability to communicate. Do not wait until it becomes a very involved process!!
