Its going to be a sad day when they consider the Early and Mid 2015 MacBook Pro (last units with MagSafe, a real keyboard, upgradable SSD, and USB A ports) vintage.

If they don’t produce software updates anymore, these are targets to be compromised. I wish Apple would just own up to the fact that they expect consumers to stop using these. Something like this would be helpful:

My Late 2013 MBP still works wonders. I'm not planning to upgrade for another year or two. I like to keep my computers for at least 5-7 years or so.

Well that's a shame. I use a mid-2013 MacBook Air as my daily driver at work, which I just upgraded to a 1TB SSD, and a 2013 MacBook Pro at home. Both are running Catalina and both run great.

So many people are talking about software support. But being on the vintage list only means limited hardware support, I.e. Apple will only fix the device as long as they retain parts. It is only after seven years after they finish production that they are considered obsolete. It is not relevant to compare this to Windows laptops as Microsoft do not produce laptops (except for the surface) and do not provide hardware support at all.

Obsolete products will continue to work as long as the hardware can keep up. Thus will also receive software updates.

Worth noting is that the relative minute changes in Mac hardware in the last years products does imply that the computers should work for quite many more years even after they were obsoleted.
