It should have been $799 at launch like the 12.9" before it...

These "sales" are a joke!

They better damn well add OLED next gen for these prices.

Too late... I got you wrong. :p ;)

The refresh that I'm referring to is something along the lines of increased RAM from 4GB (for the under 1TB storage models) to 6GB...not a modified chassis. I think iPadOS will be driving that, if it happens.
I can only commit to spending the ticket price for the 12.9" Pro when I know Apples has improved the structure. No way I can use a device and be worried about it bending like a banana overtime (or even out of the box). I see the posts from people reporting their device is fine but this is outweighed, for me, by the posts and videos that show theirs has bent even if only slightly. I appreciate this has been discussed (argued) at length already but thats where I stand sadly.

It's frustrating as Amazon is slowly reducing the price already making it hard to resist, but resist I must!

If history is any indication then if you're waiting for a price that is more than $175 off MSRP then you'll most likely be disappointed. $175 off was the high-water mark for discounts for the previous 2 generations of 12.9 Pros. And those didn't happen when the newer models were released.

Based on what timeline? September is iPhone launch, not ipad.

Average release time shows there is a year to wait for updated models. iPadOS will freshen up demand for the current line so why would Apple update this year?

I have reason to believe that there will at least be a partial refresh of the current 2018 Pro models (with a more remote possibility of a new model)

Don't get me wrong, I'm waiting for a refresh if it has a stronger structural build. 12.9" pro is what I lust for. But it seems too early based on history. Will be happy to be wrong.

Any clue where your getting your believe from?
