ARKit 3 features a new immersive "People Occlusion" feature that allows virtual objects to be placed in front and behind people in real time, as Mojang demonstrated on stage with a preview of its augmented reality game Minecraft Earth.

Apple's new RealityKit SDK provides developers with tools for photorealistic rendering, environment and camera effects, animation, physics, and more.

sorry for those presenters for Minecraft Earth - so cringe. I can't believe Apple thought this would play great on stage.
It looked horrible. The worst staged presentation since the DJ with the Touchbar.

When she said ~“it’s so immersive” and they cut to a pull back of her looking at her phone at the empty floor I could not believe how poor of a choice Apple made here.

It spoke to desperation between Apple’s need to keep the gas on ARkit and having no reasonable device to experience AR.

I hate to say it but these seem pretty far off still.

Does anyone actually ever use that whole AR crap? Apple and other companies are insanely excited about it, but I don’t see any real life scenario where people would use them. I’m certainly not going to hand hold an iPad for hours playing bricks on a table.

We built an app that allows users to configure a car with colors, interiors etc either having it set up on their table or do full scale, put it on their driveway or explore what the detailed differences between interior trim packages and such.

So far it has been pretty popular, we also early on set out to not be something meant to use for hours on end.. but for shorter timeframes.

Instead of looking at a screen building blocks in your living room you could just play with Lego.
