AT&T this week is offering customers the chance to buy one iPhone and get another at no extra cost, as long as both are purchased on an AT&T Next installment plan with an eligible wireless line. iPhones eligible for the offer include: iPhone 8, 8 Plus, X, XR, XS, or XS Max (priced up to $1,449.99).

With the deal, if you buy one of these iPhones then AT&T will give you up to $750 in credits, which will cover the entire cost of an iPhone 8, 64GB iPhone 8 Plus, or 64GB iPhone XR. You can also choose to put the $750 credit towards a 256GB iPhone 8 Plus, 128GB or 512GB iPhone XR, iPhone X, iPhone XS, or iPhone XS Max.

The credit will start within three bill cycles, and AT&T will send catch-up credits once it starts. The credit will be applied monthly over the entire agreement term. This includes either AT&T Next for 30 months or AT&T Next Every Year for 24 months.

AT&T's offer ends on Sunday, March 31, so if you're interested head to the carrier's website to browse for a new iPhone. More deals and discounts can be found in our full Deals Roundup.

I hate when posts like these give free PR to the carriers for offering promos that have restrictive fine print. Nowhere in the MacRumors article does it mention the new line of service requirement.

No one should do business with ATT and their fake 5G scam

The problem I have with the bogo is the bogo credits are spread over 30 months.

That mean they automatically get the $20 plus (cost to add a new line) per month x 30 months. So att is guaranteed $600 in revenue plus their bogus $1.99 federal universal fee (non mandatory) per line

So that’s $660 guarantee revenue for att for new line. Plus the $40 att next upgrade/new line fee. So $700 guaranteed. Att basically loses nothing in the bogo promo.

If you're already with AT&T and want a deal with out starting a new line, you need to connect with their Loyalty Department. 1-800-288-2020. Once you get a live person, verify you are speaking with the Loyalty Department, not Customer Service or anything else. The operator may want to document why you want to speak with the Loyalty Department, just let them know you want to talk about upgrading you current device. With the Loyalty Department, just explain you're a current customer and would like to upgrade your device. Be polite and indicate you don't want to pay full price for a device. I was able to get my wife's iPhone 8 a few months ago for $450 off of list. Naturally, YMMV, but I found that being calm and polite to the Loyalty Department went a long way.

I'm sure other carriers have something similar, so it pays to research a little.
