Intel Names Robert Swan CEO Following Reports That Apple's Johny Srouji Was a Candidate

by

Intel today announced that it has appointed Robert Swan as its new CEO, ending the chipmaker's long search for a new leader.

Swan had served as Intel's interim CEO since Brian Krzanich resigned seven months ago after violating the company's non-fraternization policy. Early reports indicated Swan was not interested in the role on a permanent basis, but he has evidently changed his mind and will remain in the position.

Apple's chipmaking chief Johny Srouji was reportedly on Intel's list of candidates, but he was apparently not interested in the job.

Swan joined Intel in October 2016 as CFO.

2nd Forstall 100% but absolutely not "courageous" Schiller.
why not phil schiller?
he came up with the click wheel for the ipod
he was one of the main guys that persuaded steve to put itunes on windows
he took over the app store duties and made it so much better for developers and for users (still not perfect but quite good)

he knows what the users want. it sounds like he’s very interested in product development too. would be nice to see a CEO have meetings with Jony and his team several times a week again.

problem with scott is that Jony and his team would likely quit the moment scott is CEO.

Srouji should be the next Apple CEO - and sooner rather than later. The last good Apple CEO was an Arab too. Anything would be better than the current CEO - an unimaginative warehouse manager who got lucky.
Disagreed. Srouji isn’t a product guy. He’ll end up running it like Tim Cook.

Thank goodness (for Apple). As for Intel, seems they are in a tough spot long term as it PC processor sales are threatened long term by ARM (Apple's A series and Qualcomm's ARM chips) and PC replacement by smartphones for the general public. JMHO...
