Apple Releases Safari Technology Preview 72 With Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements

by

safaripreviewiconApple today released a new update for Safari Technology Preview, the experimental browser Apple first introduced over two years ago in March of 2016. Apple designed the Safari Technology Preview to test features that may be introduced into future release versions of Safari.

Safari Technology Preview release 72 includes fixes and updates for Web Authentication, CSS Painting API, Web API, WebRTC, Web Inspector, Web Share API, Media, JavaScript, and Service Workers.

The new Safari Technology Preview update is available for both macOS High Sierra and macOS Mojave, the newest version of the Mac operating system that was released to the public in September.

The Safari Technology Preview update is available through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store to anyone who has downloaded the browser. Full release notes for the update are available on the Safari Technology Preview website.

Apple’s aim with Safari Technology Preview is to gather feedback from developers and users on its browser development process. Safari Technology Preview can run side-by-side with the existing Safari browser and while designed for developers, it does not require a developer account to download.

Lol Apple, more of the same, you put out a "dev" version and within 5 minutes of use one can see dev tools not only still carry old bugs but now we have new ones.

Open inspector and select any DOM nodes, then another.. seems they stack forever. In addition to this, inspector gets frozen so easily it's just comical this is being released for "devs".

Also, on "stable" Safari, modal scrolling has been broken throughout all 2018, you fixed it 1 or 2 STP versions ago, having released a newer "stable" version not long ago, do you think you could make it by 2020 for the fix?

For anyone wondering (all exp. features on):

[doublepost=1545592216][/doublepost]The new version, build 14607.1.17.1, introduces a new bug. It won't hold the zoom settings for any website. Further, the default for new pages isn't recognized. Upon each launch zoom reverts to 100% despite being set, in my case, for 115%. I filed a bug report with Apple.
I've had this issue with the last few builds, reported it related to Preview 70 and got feedback it was previously submitted. Still, annoying, that.

It isn't a "dev" version, it's a tech preview. It's basically a beta.
