Does anyone still use iTunes?
Yeah dawg. I have like 15 years worth of music stored in my iTunes library that I've ripped, collected and curated, including a lot of things you won't be able to find on your favorite streaming service. There are also some hard to find movies in there too that I can stream right to the Apple TV. Ownership of media -- what a concept, right?

And yes, the Remote app is actually pretty great. I use it on either my iPhone or iPad to browse through the music that's on my Mac in the other room and send it via AirPlay to different sets of speakers in my home. Sometimes more than one set at a time. You can also control the volume of each independently, right from the app.

This is the app, from Apple, that allows you to control your AppleTV with an iPhone or iPad, thereby relieving you of the absolute torture of using the actual, handheld remote control that comes with AppleTV. No joke!
No, it relieves you of the absolute torture of having to TYPE by selecting one letter at a time. Most of the time the physical remote is great, but it's no good for typing.

No. No one uses iTunes. No one at all. Your sample size of 1 was correct.

The iTunes Remote app being updated twice in one year? Quite a turn after it took almost a year for it to get iPhone X and iOS 11 support. I hope this trend continues.

It still doesn't support Apple Music playback via iTunes though, and that's a big deficiency.

Wow! This is....meaningless. How about adding the Apple TV Remote app to the Watch.
Ehm, it’s been there for a long time. But it uses the ITunes remote icon (guess dark Apple TV remote icon doesn’t work well on the black background.)
