Still slow and bloated.........one of these days, I will install these updates, and it will open and be blazing fast, and trimmed down, and I will be like "what?! What a great update!"

My god, they should just release a detailed release note, those who care will read it, those who don't won't read it. Same with the macOS release notes, wouldn't see a problem there..

I fear that day.

Knowing Apple this will take a rewrite where they bin most of the features that separate it from other media managers.

iPhoto to Photos has shown me clearly enough not to trust today's Apple in terms of users controlling and managing their workflows themselves.

The longer iTunes stays untouched the better IMHO.

THIS. Exactly this. This is what I've been saying every time I hear the "Apple should just split everything up" rant (which seems to be... oh, about anytime anyone anywhere mentions iTunes, ha). As it stands, iTunes may be in need of performance improvements, etc., but people don't appreciate the kind of advanced functionality it offers (especially compared to what people seem to think are the alternatives, such as Spotify, etc.). I'm afraid so much of that would be lost and people who put a lot of work into massive libraries will be left with a fraction of the features, and few of the ones that make iTunes such a powerful library tool to begin with.
