For this week's giveaway, we've partnered with G-Technology to give away five 1TB G-Drive mobile USB-C hard drives. The bus-powered hard drives ideal for MacBook owners require no external power adapter and feature a thin aluminum case with silver, gold, and space gray color options available.

The G-Drive mobile USB-C comes pre-formatted for Mac (but can be easily reformatted for PC) and includes both USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cables. The 7200 rpm drive supports data transfer rates up to 136 MB/second over USB 3.1. With plug-and-play setup on Mac, the G-Drive can also be used as a Time Machine backup disk.

Suggested retail pricing for the G-Drive mobile USB-C is $129.95, but retailers with the drive in stock are typically selling it for $10 less. The silver model is available from retailers such as Adorama, while the gold and space gray colors are Apple exclusives.

Giveaways are great and all but these G-technology products all seem like overpriced gimmicks to me. There is no need for the usb-c connector when any drive can use a type-a to c cable or adapter. At least it is 7200 rpm but still it is overpriced just like everything else i have seen from them such as their thunderbolt drives. They seem to want to take non tech savvy apple users money.
True, I once bought a drive in Singapore, very similar from the outside as well as the inside for about half the price, can't recall the brandname, I still have the enclosure but right now I lent it out to my brother so I can't tell the brand, think it contained "silver" in it's name.
It had all the bells and whistles like firewire 800,USB and eSATA and to this day it still works.
I once bought a G-Tech, expensive but worked well at that time.

I as well wondered why it is for US residents only before, MR makes money of all readers around the world yet they hide their *** behind this legal stuff, it is the responsibility of the receiver of a price to pay tax so why MR think it's too difficult is beyond my understanding, or shipping costs is too expensive for them.
This is clearly advertising and if that is the case the manufacturer and/or MR should bear those costs.

So in order to enhance one's chances for this prize, they must do some social media b.s. Sounds like in order to possibly get this "prize" you have to promote us. Sorry I didn't pay for designer jeans and promote their name on my backside and I wont promote here either. I'll stick with just my email address and call it a day.

Any idea how non-US residents are filtered out from entering the giveaway? I'm a US resident with an address and bank and all of that, I just happen to be in Canada right now so I'm wondering if I'm automatically filtered out as ineligible, despite being eligible.
If you win, they ask for your shipping address.

Actually, it's even worse. If you win, they demand your precious bodily fluids, and force you to comply using NSA mind control. Then they recruit you into Cyborg Corps. BEWARE, DO NOT ENTER.
