The full video and audio of the interview are now available from Daring Fireball for those interested in seeing exactly what Schiller and Federighi had to say. The executives discussed such topics as the ability to remove stock apps in iOS 10, the opening of several parts of Apple's platforms to third-party developers to allow integration into apps such as Messages and Maps, and more.

The discussion also covered Apple's expanded subscription options for app developers, including some clarification on which types of apps may not be appropriate for such a model, details on the new Photos features and how Apple is approaching privacy with them, and some thoughts on how Apple was able to make such significant improvements in the watchOS user experience.

Federighi really embodies the spirit of Apple in my opinion. Federighi's presentation on OS X/macOS and iOS at WWDC was great, polished and intelligent and the demos smart, witty and slick.

Remember: year after year, everything Apple does is awful, big new stuff doesn't matter just because, small new stuff is bad because it's small, everything every other company does is flawless so you'd better switch, AND this perpetually became true only recently. In 10 years, it will still have just recently become true.

Apple: Just Recently Terrible Since 1976.

Was this the one where Schiller mentioned the bit about they spend a year working on a new file system and no one cares, and they do two new emoji and everyone flips out?

Right on. Right on. My girlfriend saw the keynote and some WWDC sessions with me and I was interested mostly in the upcoming APFS. Really great stuff. Built for SSD, cloning. Too bad it won't be released until 2017, but it shows Apple still has an interest in REAL technology and not gimmicks like sending your heartbeat, Siri, 3D Touch, Touch ID, Apple Pay, Handoff.

But, alas, the girlfriend was most impressed by...you guessed it, the new iMessage app. No, seriously. She was actually impressed by the overall increased interactivity of a communication app that allows tone-deaf text messages to express more dynamic personalities and playful subtext. Unbelievable. I recognized in that moment that one of us was a sad, pathetic case.
which one?
