ATT-iPhone-6sAT&T has announced that its "Buy One Get One Free" promotion for iPhones and select other smartphones is now available again for both new and existing customers.

The limited time offer requires both smartphones to be purchased on AT&T Next with a qualifying plan. The first device can be a new line or an upgrade, while the second device must be a new line and purchased on AT&T Next 24.

After three bill cycles or less, AT&T said customers will start to receive up to $650 in bill credits spread out over 30 monthly payments. The first payment will be a lump sum of any AT&T Next payments to that date. Tax is still due on both smartphones, which must be from the same manufacturer, upon purchase.

Last month, T-Mobile announced a similar "BOGO" promotion that offers qualifying Simple Choice customers half off all iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models, or any iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, with the purchase of another iPhone of equal or greater value. The savings are applied instantly at the point of sale.

Be warned, it can take up to 3 months before you start seeing the rebate on your bill. I did this back in December, bought one got one, have not seen the rebate yet, it's been 2 billing cycles already
It took about 2 bills to see mine but on the other side they placed 3 credits on that bill so we're good. Delayed but a good deal.

So you pay for 2 phones, then get rebates over 30 months? What happens if you upgrade in 1 year...do the rebates keep coming?

Seems shady.
[doublepost=1455323868][/doublepost]BEWARE OF ATT REBATES. I spoke with a retention rep in October and received some credits for staying with ATT and she said to call back in two months and the credits will be applied. So in two months I called back to retention and was told that they couldn't help me because i now had unified billing, ATT and Direct TV, so i had to be transferred to another billing department. After holding on wait for several minutes, the billing rep saw no mention of the credits. After several tries going back and forth between departments, even trying the online chat, one rep finally went to another screen and found the credits. THE WHOLE PROCESS TOOK ME SIX FREAKING HOURS TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. Customer service has gone down bad since the merger. I spoke to at least a half dozen incompetent reps until i would someone to help.

Yeah, I just got mine about a week ago. That was only one bill cycle... :D

wheres the catch? No company can offer an iPhone for free, you must be paying for it somewhere along the line?
You must stay with AT&T for 30 months. If you cancel, so does the rebate. Also, if you have AT&T Next, you still owe the balance on the phone.
So, I'm betting this is just another flavor of "get a phone for $199 with a 2 year contract" where they make up the subsidy over 30 months. If you quit, no worries on them. They get their money, and you don't get the remainder of the rebate.

Cool. Hope your daughter and the misses enjoy them. Alas I get the feeling this will end far before my upgrade eligibility :/
Hopefully they will keep it for a while. They had it around Christmas, ended it, but then got it back just recently.

If you have a bunch of no-contract lines on your account, couldn't you add a line to get the free phone, then cancel one of the existing lines and move the number to the new line, in effect winding up with what you had?
We tried that and the rep said they couldn't port the old number back to the "new" line. So my son got the new number and we had to let his original number go.
