To mark the 10th anniversary of the launch of Skype's video calling feature, Skype today announced plans to bring group video calling to mobile devices, including the iPhone and the iPad. As with group video calling on desktop devices, group video calling on mobile devices will be free.

Group video calling has been available for free for Mac, PC, and Xbox One users since April of 2014. Prior to that, using the feature required users to have a Premium Skype subscription.

Skype plans to begin rolling out group video calling on mobile devices over the course of the next few weeks, but Skype is allowing customers to sign up with their email address and Skype user name to register for early access.

When signing up, Skype's registration process says access to mobile group video calling will be available in the next few days.

Seems like no-one even cares, 24 minutes since posting this topic and no reply yet, Skype is so... out.

I use Viber amongst others.

Skype is certainly not out, last time I checked it's the most popular group video chat service(a feature Viber doesn't even support) and I know many students who use it to for revision groups.
I don't know one single person which still uses Skype here, so, to me it means it IS out.

It would be great for FaceTime to have this feature.

I've seen group video calling on FaceTime only during the TV Show: Modern Family. It really should be a real option.

I think it's a logical step towards the evolution, don't you think?

Apple could do this even better and fit it somehow together with only one preview of your face.

Sounds like the key part that was omitted in the original reply is "to me", which certainly means something, but basically more or less just to you.

I use Skype a lot but Microsoft practically ruined it. Those idiots who are now in charge of Microsoft design the most illogical websites snd applications imaginable for Xbox, Skype etc. - sometimes there's no way to sign in, no way to sign out, no way to change account information, passwords - and the design is atrocious. It's like it was all designed by fools.
yeah, and the new ridiculous movie icons, or what ever you call it. Once great app, and then ebay craped it and now Microsoft ***@d it up completely.

The one feature Apple took away from iChat and has yet to get back. Apparently everyone at Apple can't multi-task or don't have more then a single friend/family member.
