Apple Releases tvOS 9.0.1 Update for Apple TV

Apple today released the first update to tvOS, the new operating system that runs on the fourth-generation Apple TV. tvOS 9.0.1 is a minor update that likely includes bug fixes and performance updates to address issues discovered since the launch of tvOS on October 30.

The new 9.0.1 update can be downloaded over-the-air through the Settings app on the Apple TV by going to System --> Software Update.

Apple has not provided release notes for the tvOS 9.0.1 update, so the exact details on what's new are not yet known. Any discoveries we make will be added to this post.

tvOS 9.0.1 comes as Apple is testing the first major update to the operating system, tvOS 9.1. Apple has thus far seeded one beta of tvOS 9.1 to developers, with release notes for that beta pointing towards improvements to networking and scrolling. tvOS 9.1 also appears to include support for Siri search for Apple Music.

Why release a product if a software update was so close to being released? Do they just release things unpolished and patch things up as they go? C'mon.
That's absurd. No matter how much testing is done, there are always some issues that get through. Your proposal, to not release until perfect, is preposterous.

I have no idea what they have patched in this release, but given how close it is to the product release, I am going to guess that something showed up when millions started using the product that they had not found in testing. And it must have been significant enough to warrant a release especially when 9.1 is already in beta.

Darn. It downloaded super fast. Must be a tiny update! Nearly done already. Nice to know Apple are ironing out the problems so fast though. Thank you Apple.

This is the type of update that one wouldn't expect from a polished product. Why release new hardware and software if a stability and general improvement update was just around the corner. I don't like this general attitude of release it now, fix and improve it later.

It's preposterous to you because you're successfully brainwashed into thinking that software deserves to be excused from all preexisting consumer protection laws and engineering sensibility.

Yes, you do have to stop fiddling and ship at some point. But that's not the problem with this industry.
Lol okay buddy. Consumer protection laws should apply and outlaw software being released before it's perfect in every possible scenario? I have heard some ridiculous things on this board. Have heard whining along with a faux sense of superiority used to attack anyone who doesn't agree that we should hammer the world with unreasonable expectations from life. Have seen the absolutely worst types of people float in here with a sense of entitlement so absurd it's borderline laughable that these people exist. Your post is right there at the top of of the heap with a full trifecta of nonsensical "gimme gimme gimme" garbage.

Will there ever be another OS update for the 3rd Gen AppleTV? Or 2nd??
No. Not unless it's a security update.

Does the Remote App work now?
No. A new version of the app will have to be released and is in the works.

Wat? There will aways be bugs in every release of every version of software from every developer. Notice how Microsoft pushed out an update for Windows 10 just a week after it was released? Or how OS X 10.11.1 came out shortly after 10.11? There are always minor fixes.

The x.x.1 update here indicates a bug fix release without additional features added.
