Video Review: The iLuv Layup X is a Solid Multi-Functional Case for the iPhone 6s Plus

by

iLuv is a well-known Apple accessory manufacturer, with a wide range of iPhone and iPad case options available in retail stores. For our most recent video review, we went hands-on with the company's Layup X case, available for the iPhone 6 Plus and 6s Plus.

The Layup X is a multi-function case that offers all around iPhone protection, a tempered glass screen protector to keep the screen safe from scratches, and a built-in kickstand. More functional than stylish, the Layup X consists of an inner hard shell that holds the iPhone in place and an outer rubber shell that's designed to offer protection from impact.

iLuv's Layup X fits onto an iPhone easily and provides access to all ports and buttons on the device. Though somewhat bulky, the Layup X feels solid on the phone and is a case that's going to offer a good amount of protection against bumps and drops.

As for the built-in kickstand, it's functional, but it's made out of a thin plastic that doesn't have a good build quality. It's able to prop the iPhone up into an ideal viewing angle, but we feel that the kickstand is the first place the iLuv case could fail. Overall, though, this is a solid choice for customers seeking a case that's going to offer all around protection.

The Layup X is available for $34.99 from the iLuv website or from Amazon.com.

Imagine buying a Ferrari, designed to perfection to be one of the most beautiful cars on the planet. Then getting home and putting a bunch of plastic bumpers to protect it from getting scratched or dented in case of an accident.

It's also like putting plastic on a couch. You cover up the couch so that it doesn't get dirty but the entire time you've owned the couch, you never see it anyway because it's behind a plastic wrap!

The case trend is probably Jony Ive's worst nightmare. Spend a year designing a beautiful metal and glass phone, trimming off every fraction of a millimetre to get it as thin as possible. Then a person buys the phone and puts on a cheap case making it both ugly and bulky.

I've carried my iPhone naked as it was intended since the first generation. My protection is AppleCare+. I've never broken a screen and only had to use my replacement plan once and it wasn't from a drop.

Just my opinion, but this is the exact opposite of any case I would ever consider buying. Lol. Bulky, textured, the bumps on the back, 2 pieces, a screen protector. I like the color though. ;)

And let's not forget about the built in stand...

how the hell can this even be considered multi-functional? don't even give me the "oh it's a case AND a stand" bs. you know what multi-functional should mean.
and with 3 freaking review on amazon? well hey atleast you get to keep a free case out of the review amirite?
at least tell me you wrote the review your self, and not copy-pasted to you by iLUV.
