Yes, I understand that it has a bigger screen (and onboard keyboard) and WhatsApp could be tethered to the SIM in your iPhone - but that doubles the cost for what is essentially a 'consumption device'. edit: maybe not doubles - me bad ;)

btw, do you ever take it out of the house?
If I'm traveling, yes, my iPad goes with me.

My situation might be a bit unique, but my iPad is probably what helps me achieve work/life balance the best. I have probably 80% overlap between iPhone & iPad, and the 20% is intentional. I have my work emails, Slack/Teams, etc on my iPhone, and I can consciously put the iPhone away, while still having the 80% I do want (iMessage, WhatsApp, etc) with my via my iPad.

I confess that I've never really taken to the iPad. It falls between two stools for my purposes. So those prices still seem high to me.

Tried having an iPad Pro a while back, with the keyboard accessory, but quickly reverted to a MBA.

[My other half uses an iPad mini, bought s/h, to engages with the Internet and things on the Web.]
Neither have I, in the last I have flirted with the iPad for a few years only to get rid of it. Trying to conduct some productivity tasks or even basic functions takes too many actions. I am better served with a light laptop like Neo.

Wouldn’t the rumoured iPhone Ultra serve your purpose well.
I'm intrigued by the ultra in general, but no. As you can see if my comment, I purposefully don't want ~20% of the apps/data on my secondary device. Having 1 device that is both phone/tablet achieved via fold doesn't really offer that separation.

Well it fits that perfect middle ground of features/pricing between the regular ipad and pro. It actually has almost twice the performance of the MB Neo.
Performance on iPadOS is negligible compared to Neo. The OS literally throttles any usage the chip has to offer.
