Best Buy Takes $50 Off M5 iPad Pro for Members, Plus Trade-In Offers

Alongside trade-in deals on the new M5 MacBook Pro, Best Buy is offering trade-in deals toward the new M5 iPad Pro, with My Best Buy Plus and My Best Buy Total members receiving an extra 10% in trade-in value. Members also receive a straight $50 discount on iPad Pro pre-orders.

Best Buy advertises a starting price for the M5 iPad Pro of $499 with trade-in of an M4 Wi-Fi model with 512GB of storage, but between member trade-in bonuses and cash discounts, you can likely bring the out-of-pocket cost down even more, so be sure to check trade-in offers and your final cart price.

A My Best Buy Plus membership is priced at $49.99 per year, so the $50 discount on the iPad Pro pays for a year's membership by itself, and any discounts on other products and additional membership benefits like free 2-day shipping and extended return windows become essentially free bonuses.

My Best Buy Total is a higher-tier plan priced at $179.99 per year, but it includes benefits like up to two years of protection such as AppleCare+ on purchases, discounted repairs, and premium Geek Squad support.

Yeah, iPad's are great pass it down devices or just keep them.

Word of warning: Before Apple silicon was everywhere, the iPad Pro's were a secret power you owned that would out-perform almost every device out there. And by a HUGE margin. iPad Pro's would remain relevant forever.

But today, with iPad Air's with M series silicon, there's a clear line of whether you need an iPad Pro or base iPad or iPad Air: It's this, If you can make do with 8GB or less, you are firmly in the the base iPad or iPad Air camp. Don't even look at the iPad Pro

I mean the base MacBook comes standard with 16GB. I mean what the heck are you going to be able to take advantage of the M4 or M5 with only 8GB? Especially when even the base MacBook needs 16? Answer: Nothing.

Don't do it!
Don't even think you are going to "save" money getting a the older 8GB M4, you are only getting vasty more expensive iPad Air that will quickly become obsolete.

Today, if you NEED a new iPad Pro, you need a minimum of 16GB, (maybe the new 12GB M5, I haven't tried those yet) anything else if just throwing money in the trash.

Sadly, though, if you NEED an iPad Pro you will be paying $1,700 or more. (*maybe the new base M5's with 12GB might be ok, but I haven't put those through the tests yet)
It is not only about performance, in the sense you are writing about:

1) The screen is significantly better.
2) TB4/USB4 is great.
3) FaceID is preferred by many.
4) It is a bit lighter.

Can’t say any of this matters to you, but it does to me. From my perspective, most people I know should either get the base iPad or jump to an iPad Pro. But Apple has become very good at step ladders in its product categories so there is ample choice, and that is good.

Yeah, their trade-in values suck. I'm trading my 4th-gen 11" cellular iPad Pro (256) and Apple is giving me $450 for it. That's almost as much as I'd get on eBay after fees without the hassle. Best Buy is only offering $220.
