I 100% agree the Apple experience is worth the extra money. I have always had PC’s and Mac’s in my office. Multiples of each. I’m 60 and as much as I like geeking out with everything I finally decided it’s time to just settle down with my Mac’s. Been on them since System 7. I grew tired of the constant os updates Windows was pushing. Anyhow just sold one, gave my daughter a Think Pad, and gave a good friend a HP Z2. I’m down to a Studio, M2 Pro Mini and an IPad. Works great for me and is way less time consuming.
It might be nice to enjoy the Apple experience if you can afford it.
My budget requires me to pay better attention to my dollar for dollar spending.
Yeah, some will down vote me, as expected, but it is my money or the lack thereof.
Your inventory is out of my price range. Must be nice to do so.
I would like to have a used iPad and mini.
The older the product, at a price suitable to me, won't last as long.

I can see the low end iPad as a loss leader. Get you hooked into the ecosystem, then you realize you need some feature on the Air or a Pro, or maybe even a MacBook. However, I suspect Apple still makes a decent profit on it even at Amazon prices. Tooling on the SOC and the case/screen are all paid for by previous iPhones and iPads. Just keep the production lines running.

I'm a bit tempted to get the 11 myself, but my ninth generation still works fine and has a headphone jack. Ruthless pruning of unneeded stuff has half my 64 GB of storage still free.
I have the iPad 7 with 32 GB and it struggles but still works.
Would be fine with more storage. Love the headphone jack and the big home button. I've had to prune storage to almost nothing. After the iPad OS updates are finished for me (iPad OS 18), I can put some other apps back.
The requirement for the updates are huge and I can't go to iPad OS 19.
While I enjoy the lower cost of Android, the iPad is still the best. (Need to save my S&H Green Stamps). <giggles to anyone who has a clue what I'm talking about.>

This was the same thing computer magazines did when I worked for Radio Shack in the early 1980s.
Prices were lower than what Radio Shack charged. The ads were in the back and there were plenty.
If Amazon can give deep price cuts, then Apple needs to charge them more.
I can't imagine the iPad being a "Loss Leader."
I follow a Chrome OS website and prices are all over the place.
Seems to be more of a Best Buy thing and sometimes you must actually go there.
The idea that Apple does not discount products because Steve Jobs didn't may not make sense today.
Even the refurbished products are only 15% off typically.
Then again, the free services from Apple when a product is purchased is something no one else can do.
Smart! On the other hand, sometimes just about a $30-ish value.
A $50 discount on the base iPad is something of a deal, but perhaps no biggie on the more expensive stuff.
But, I am just Joe Consumer and can't tell Apple what to do.
