Testing the New ASUS ProArt 5K Display

There aren't too many 5K displays on the market that can compete with Apple's Studio Display, but ASUS recently came out with the ASUS ProArt Display 5K, which is a solid competitor. The ProArt Display 5K features a 27-inch 5K screen with 218 pixels per inch, aka retina quality.

ASUS sells the ProArt Display 5K for $799, so it's actually half the price of the Studio Display, and much, much cheaper than the Pro Display XDR. The ProArt Display is more generic looking than Apple's monitors, so you're not getting Apple style, but if you're used to looking at a 5K Retina display and you need a second monitor, you can get that same general screen quality at a cheaper price.

In our testing, the ProArt Display 5K was color accurate, sharp, and very similar to the Studio Display. Make sure to watch our video for our full hands-on review that goes into more detail on why you might want to opt for the ProArt over Apple's options.

If you're interested in the ProArt Display, you can get it from the ASUS website or from Amazon.com.

I'm not interested in watching 7 minutes of advertising and video, is there a text transcript? Is it possible to produce a review in a reader-friendly way? This ain't it.

I like the fact that this Asus monitor does not have a built-in webcam and built-in speakers. I'd rather buy a monitor like that along with a top-of-the-line Logitech 4K webcam and Klipsch 2.1 computer speakers, which would total hundreds of dollars less than the Apple Studio Display. Why pay hundreds of dollars more for Apple's low-end built-in webcam and Apple's low-end built-in speakers?

Adobe RGB? P3? Strange to do a monitor review and not discuss ‘accuracy’ beyond resolution.

I'm actually looking for a curved 24" 1440 display but nobody makes it yet :(.

If I wanted a bigger display, this looks pretty good.
ProArt and Studio Displays are for creatives like designers, photographers and architects. They can’t have a curve screens otherwise the horizontal lines in their design documents will appear curved too.

Studio Display is 600 Nits.
True! I always use my Studio Display at full brightness, so anything lower would be a negative for me.
