Amazon Offers Massive $299 Discount on 8GB M2 MacBook Air, Available for $699.99

Apple's 256GB 13-inch M2 MacBook Air is back down to its all-time low price of $699.99 with the use of an on-page coupon. This is $299 off the original price of the 2022 computer.

Shoppers should note that this is the older version of the 13-inch M2 MacBook Air with 8GB of RAM. This week, Apple updated the entire MacBook Air lineup and it now starts with 16GB of RAM. We haven't yet tracked discounts on the 16GB models, but today's discount is still a great deal if you think 8GB of RAM is enough for your needs.

Why don’t we ever gets these levels of discounts in the UK? I get the price difference based on exchange rates, sales tax, size of market. But we’re lucky ever to see more than £50 off an Apple device, and then it is fairly rare.

Not a bad price for what you get, but not an amazing sale either. IMO, M1 models should be 499 and M2 models should be 599 now that Apple has officially nixed 8GB models from their own sales. They're still very capable machines for consumers at that price point, and they would move a ton of inventory to demographics they don't typically attract, which helps get people in their ecosystem long-term (i.e. their fastest growing profit centers).

8 GB seems ridiculously underpowered now, but at $699 this is starting to enter "premium Chromebook" price levels... and a base-level M2 MacBook Air is definitely a better "cheap" on-the-go laptop than any Chromebook. :cool:

Everyone harps on the 8GB of RAM, but it's honestly a great machine for general computing and then some. Never felt like the 8GB was a hindrance. Great battery life, completely fanless, and the thinnest laptop I've ever owned. $699 is a steal imo, especially when something like the iPad Air is only $100 less/iPad Pro is $999 new.
