New Film 'Wolfs' Starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney on Apple TV+

Apple action-comedy film "Wolfs," featuring Hollywood stars Brad Pitt and George Clooney, premiered today exclusively on Apple TV+. The movie was originally slated for a wide theatrical release, but premiered on the streaming service today following a limited theatrical run last week.

Directed by Jon Watts, known for the recent Spider-Man trilogy, "Wolfs" follows two professional fixers played by Pitt and Clooney who must work together to cover up a high-profile crime. The star-studded cast also includes Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, and Richard Kind.

Despite positive reception from critics, Apple made the unexpected decision to pull "Wolfs" from wide theatrical release last month. The company has not publicly explained its reasoning for the change in strategy, although industry speculation suggests it may be related to the underwhelming box office performance of some recent Apple Original films.

Apple's shift in approach for "Wolfs" reflects a broader reconsideration of its theatrical release plans. Another upcoming film, "Blitz," is also set for a limited theatrical run before streaming. Currently, Apple has only one movie, the Formula One drama "F1" (also starring Brad Pitt), scheduled for a wide theatrical release in June 2025.

Despite the move, Apple appears to remain committed to producing high-profile content. Matt Dentler, head of features at Apple Original Films, recently described "Wolfs" as a "big event movie" and announced that a sequel is already in development.

"Wolfs" is produced by Clooney's Smokehouse Pictures and Pitt's Plan B Entertainment in partnership with Apple. The film is now streaming for all ‌Apple TV‌+ subscribers.

Really long article, but it was missing one key thing that everybody would be looking for: a very brief summary of the plot!

Because it's probably flopping at the box office. As like basically everything else related to Apple TV.
Ok...

"To date, Apple Original films, documentaries, and series have earned 499 wins and 2,262 award nominations and counting, including multi-Emmy Award-winning comedy Ted Lasso and historic Oscar Best Picture winner CODA." [1]

You may not like what Apple is releasing, but it's hard to say it's all flopping.

Watched it this afternoon, Gotta say it was excellent. I am quite surprised that they didn't push through with wide release. It's a great character and plot driven film that's well thought through. The kind of well produced films you don't see much of anymore.

Is there a joke in the title? Or do Americans say "wolfs" rather than wolves"? The joke being that these guys see themselves as wolves but are too doofus to know the right word. OK, I see that my keyboard dictionary does have “wolfs” in it, but surely not. It’s so jarring.
Pretty obvious to me just from the “trailer” linked.

At the end of the trailer it says wolf, and then an S is slowly drawn.

In the trailer itself they are each set up to be one of a kind, “lone wolf” types. Who then have to work together. A large chunk of the trailer is devoted to them saying “we are not partners”.

So it seems to be a depiction of two lone wolves working together.

A lazy Pitt/Clooney co-produced, phoned-in buddy movie. Quite predictable for these 60+ actors. Zero effort.

It is a one hour and 47 minutes long ad for cortisol deficiency.

A sequel is in the works. A "vehicle" for Pitt and Clooney? More like a "rollator". Christ, what a waste of money.

I can fully understand why the theatrical release of this film was pulled. One word: underwhelming

Tired, wooden mannerisms. These old actors are way past their expiration date.
I appreciate criticism based on lack of substance, but it seems you mix in their age with the criticism.

Why? Are people over a certain age always bad at things? It sounds a bit like that from your wording, but maybe I’m wrong. :). Just think it’s sad with the ageism. I bet that means you will also ”expire” when reaching a certain age? Isn’t it better to look at the individual performance instead?
