Worth the buy? Price sounds awesome... would hate for it to be bricked in 4-5 years with AI software etc
Come off it, it’s not going to be ‘bricked’ in 4-5 years. My original 2010 iPad still works… ! Perhaps you just mean outdated / not getting updates?

I recently got an iPad Pro to replace my 9th gen, and although it’s obviously a huge upgrade overall there are things I still prefer about the 9th gen. Even just as a big iPod, it‘s the last iPad to have a headphone jack, which Macrumors and others always seem to forget to point out for some reason.

Pretty good price but we're a USB-C only household at this point. Finally replaced my daughter's iPad with the 10th gen and very happy to leave lighting behind.

I forgot how long ago the Gen 9 released. I wouldn't buy this at this price myself, because it will most likely be bricked with AI software, like you've mentioned. I'd be better off spending the extra money on the latest gen version.
The latest generation base iPad came out only a year later (and is going on 2 years old) and doesn’t support Apple Intelligence because it comes with only 4GB of RAM.

I suspect the 11th generation iPad, whenever it comes out, will have 8GB of RAM with either an A16 or A17.

But as others have pointed out, just because it doesn’t support AI doesn’t mean the device will suddenly become bricked. I suspect most users who would be satisfied with a 9th or 10th generation iPad would never use AI features.

Last chance for an iPad with headphone/audio line output. Try overdubbing with Bluetooth headphones and you'll know why it's an important feature. No need for a dongle to charge and monitor audio simultaneously.

At $199 it will do the job for 90% of the users wanting an iPad. I just got one as a second Apple Account device for work as I don’t want to use my main Apple Account. At that price, you can use it as a knockaround device inside or outside. If I ran a POS type business, I would be upgrading my staff while the getting was good.
