Apple Begins Selling Refurbished iMac With M3 Chip in Canada

Apple this week added the latest-generation iMac with the M3 chip to its certified refurbished store in Canada for the first time since the computer was introduced in October. As a reminder, availability in the U.S. began last month.

As usual for Apple's refurbished products, the refurbished iMacs are discounted by approximately 15% compared to the equivalent brand new models, with pricing starting at $1,439 CAD. A variety of configurations and color options are available.

All of the usual accessories are included in the box, including a Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, power adapter and cord, and USB-C to Lightning cable.

Apple says it puts refurbished Macs through "full functionality testing" and a "thorough cleaning process and inspection," and they are covered by Apple's one-year limited warranty and eligible for extended AppleCare+ coverage.

In our view, Apple's refurbished Macs are virtually indistinguishable from brand new ones, providing a good opportunity for savings directly from Apple.

Apple also began selling refurbished 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max chips in Canada last month.

Wow, do people still use a mouse instead of a trackpad? I've not touched a mouse in the last twelve years. Not sure what I would use a Lightning cable for either.
For design work of any kind, for example, a mouse is almost always preferred. For gaming, too.

The lightning cable is used to charge the rechargeable keyboard and mouse/trackpad as these peripherals have lighting connectors, not USB-C.

Maybe charging every non-iPhone 15/15 Pro currently in use throughout the world, maybe?

I'm just surprised Beancounter Tim hasn't seen fit (yet) to justify removing these peripherals from the refurb's iMacs, the usual nonsense about landfills etc.

This does seem a little tempting, and I really want to buy a new iMac to replace my aging 27-inch 2017 model...

...but $1099 for a refurbished M3 with 8GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, and $1049 for the three-year-old M1 equivalent? It's 2024, even brand-new mid-range Android phones will give you at least 16 GB of RAM for less than $600 ('https://www.oneplus.com/us/oneplus-12r')!

(I guess Apple really needs to make back the $10 billion they threw away on the Apple car, huh? :p)

I have owned a trackpad for a couple weeks and I feel you, almost never touched the mouse since then. I regret not owning the blue version when I bought my iMac. My bad. Next time then

Good to see that refurbished iMac is now available. 15% is not much. Sometimes brand new iMacs can be had on sale from some retailers.
