Elon Musk Says Apple Has 'Fully Resumed' Advertising on Twitter

Apple has "fully resumed" advertising on the Twitter social network, Twitter CEO Elon Musk said today during a two-hour Twitter Spaces chat highlighted by Bloomberg. Musk also confirmed that Apple is Twitter's largest advertiser.

Twitter Feature
Just five days ago, Musk accused Apple of hating "free speech," "making moderation demands," and ceasing ad spending, causing a slew of press coverage about a potential battle brewing between Apple and Twitter. Musk publicly claimed that Apple had "mostly stopped" offering ads on Twitter and that it had also threatened to "withhold Twitter from its App Store."

Then, two days after making those statements, Musk met with Apple CEO Tim Cook, and ended up reversing course. After the meeting, Musk said that there had actually been a "misunderstanding" about Twitter potentially being removed from the ‌App Store‌, and Cook "was clear that Apple never considered doing so."

Musk said that Cook had shown him around Apple Park and that the two had a "good conversation," which apparently led to Apple resuming its Twitter ads. Apple had not confirmed that it had stopped ad spending on Twitter, nor has it said anything about Musk's comments today. Following the Twitter Space discussion, Musk tweeted to "thank advertisers for returning to Twitter."

Apple is consistently one of Twitter's top advertisers, and the ad spending reportedly exceeds $100 million annually.

I remember years ago when Apple was my hero. Now it's just another run-of-the-mill company that does what it must to pacify the likes of Elon Musk.
Have you seen this video posted earlier today. It's wild out there.

Glad to hear that Apple came back to their senses. Supporting free speech for everyone is more important than making the elite comfortable.
Elon is not going to support free speech for everyone, and the elite (i.e the same people that helped finance his Twitter purchase in the first place) have zero issue with practically anything Elon has said/done since talking about purchasing twitter in the first place. Anyone who thinks Elon is some anti-establishment icon needs to re-evaluate.

In fact the elite probably love Elon's twitter more than Jack's twitter! Think about it: Elon's twitter can double down on anti-democratic practices whilst avoiding accusations of being "Big Tech" because Elon has distinguished himself from it as a whole. Once people start complaining about something he does he can simply roll out the "XYZ people are trying to bring me down because I'm going against the establishment!!!" excuse and his supporters will line up to defend him.

A mega pentagon contractor and professional banker is not going to "make the elite uncomfortable" lol

I agree 100% but the drama gets old and people will eventually get tired of it. Let's see how long it's going to lasts.

Did anyone really believe Apple would pull Twitter from the app store? Elon already made it clear the whole 'retvrn to free speech' thing is a marketing farce well before the 'Apple will pull twitter' narrative started. It seems more like Elon propagated the ''''rumor'''' to reinforce his underdog narrative that has helped bulletproof him and his ventures for a long time now.

Elon is at best business as usual for content moderation and at worse going to crack down on dissenters even more than the old Twitter team. Meeting with Macron and constantly harping about "we're gonna make both the far left and far right upset!" was enough of an indication and the advertisers know that.

Twitter ads aren't going anywhere.
