Apple seems to have an obsession with only offering large phones now. With so many large phones already I truly don’t get it. And yes, 6.1 is large to me.

Agreed, 6.1” is already gigantic to me. I can’t understand this forum’s collective preference for 6.7” monstrosities.

The mini form factor and size are absolutely perfect for me.

A smaller SE would be welcome. The original 4" screen was nice for a pocket phone.

I was expecting the SE4 to be smaller than 6.1”, at least on the 5.7-5.8”. But I guess a 5.7” LCD display would have an atypical resolution like another user said, so I guess that’s unlikely to happen… not that Apple can’t make it happen, but definitely not for the budget iPhone.

I’ve been months waiting to see if the SE fills the gap and is what I needed, but I think I should start considering other options, like the mini or waiting for the (6.1”) iPhone 15, although I’m not sure I can handle an iPhone this big. My problem with the new iPhones however is OLED, as I had a mini unit that made my eyes really sore. Hopefully in the future the new panels won’t have flickering.

Please Apple, if you’re reading this: 1) consider offering an iPhone size at least slightly smaller than 6.1”, I don’t care if it’s 5.5” or 5.8”. 2) Please please, try to source flicker free OLED panels.
That’s nice but it’s just going to be an Xr rehash. No new features added or old dropped. No new cameras. No TouchID.
SEs have exclusively, solely, without exceptions only ever been been older iPhones with new internals, with the latest and greatest SoC being the main selling point.

I get that the analysts and tech media sphere benefit greatly in traction and clicks from repeatedly exaggerating and speculating wildly about all kinds of unique designs and weirdly specific combinations of features and sizes.

But Apple’s iPhone lineup value-ladder doesn’t have room for a low-end option that has a unique new body and new features like a TouchID side button and a notch less front display and starts at $429.

-Apple never has and never will pay the r&d required to create such a devices when retail price starts at $429.

And Apple will stand by this decision as consumers have for years and years gladly bought recycled iPhones with old designs and a slew of outdated specs simply because they feature the latest and greatest SoC.

A an outdated but high quality smartphone with the World’s best SoC for $429. At its core, that’s all it is.

A unique and new design for SE4 only happens if Apple increases the price by several hundred dollars. But then SE4 starts stealing sales from the $799 mid-tier so that will never happen.

The only thing worth speculating on is how many more SEs Apple has to put out before the speculation can end?

iPhone SE = older iPhone with latest SoC, with no exceptions!

End of story.

The fourth-generation iPhone SE will feature a 6.1-inch LCD display ('https://www.macrumors.com/2022/10/09/iphone-se-4-to-feature-6-1-inch-display-with-notch/') with a notch, according to well-connected display industry analyst Ross Young.
They should have it come out as another larger SE model in a few months. Apple needs to offer a line of less expensive 5G iPhones of good quality with less expensive cameras utilized.

I currently have an iPhone 11 and was planning to upgrade this year but the pricing of the 14s in Europe is very high. If the iPhone SE 4 is based on the same body as the 11/XR but with updated internals and main camera, I would be very tempted to get one.
