Apple began accepting orders for the new 13-inch MacBook Pro last Friday, with some custom configurations with upgraded specs already facing August delivery estimates.

The new 13-inch MacBook Pro features the same design as the previous model, including the Touch Bar. The only notable change is the addition of the M2 chip with an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. Apple said the M2 chip has up to an 18% faster CPU, up to a 35% faster GPU, and up to a 40% faster Neural Engine compared to the M1 chip.

With the M2 chip, the 13-inch MacBook Pro can be configured with up to 24GB of unified memory, compared to a max of 16GB for the M1 chip. In line with the previous model, the notebook also supports up to 2TB of SSD storage.

Pricing for the 13-inch MacBook Pro continues to start at $1,299 in the United States, with silver and space gray color options available.

Apple has yet to announce an order date for the new MacBook Air with the M2 chip.

Twp pages of comments and so fr none that talsk abt what people do with the computer. What do you all do, just set it on your desk and look at it.

In my case, I attach a 30 inch 4K monitor and run 3D CAD or media editing software or have a half dozen text screens up while using a Chrome in the backgroud to look stuff up.

So given that workload the 13" MPB with the fan and 16GB RAM is the best option.

My point here is that you can not say what is "best" until you look at how the computer is used.

I came here just to look at the comments of people telling others that they should not buy this.
I was not disappointed.

So popular that estimated delivery times are last week
I'll wait until it arrives before I order it then.

Wouldn't touch another Touch Bar with a 15' pole.
That does make it hard to use.

I'm here all week ...

But...for those that buy it is what they want.
For several users it is the model they want, not what MR readers think.

The 13" M1 MacBook Pro replaced me a desktop PC. I could do all sorts of things on it without bothering about SoC temperatures. Normally, it doesn't get hot, but once you do some gaming on it, like Minecraft with some heavy shaders or even live stream all of that with OBS, things are going to change fast. I know this is not a gaming PC, but it's my only PC now and I'm more that happy with it, so I couldn't imagine it without a fan. The M2 Air is a great typewriter with more than enough horsepower for editing videos, but a 13-inch MacBook Pro is a full-fledged desktop replacement.

Also, IMO the 14” & 16” Pro’s are kinda ugly. I understand they’re better, but I really don’t think this is a good design, so I’d rather get the 13-inch Pro.
