Apple Seeds tvOS 14.2 Release Candidate to Developers

Apple today seeded release candidate version of an upcoming tvOS 14.2 update to developers for testing purposes, two weeks after seeding the fourth beta and more than a month after releasing the tvOS 14 update.

Designed for the fourth and fifth-generation Apple TV models, the tvOS 14.2 developer beta can be downloaded onto the ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌Apple TV‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ via a profile that's installed using Xcode.

tvOS updates other than new releases are typically minor in scale, focusing on under-the-hood bug fixes and improvements rather than major outward-facing changes. No new features or major changes were discovered in the first two betas of tvOS 14.2.

Though we don't often know what's new in tvOS during the beta testing process, we let MacRumors readers know when new updates are available so those who are developers can download it upon release.

Apple's tvOS 14 update brought expanded Picture in Picture support, new HomeKit integration with HomeKit Secure Video cameras, support for multiple Apple Arcade profiles, and more, with details available in our tvOS 14 roundup.

I've always been able to hit the HOME button on ATV, and select my 2 HomePods in the kitchen as additional speakers to my 5.1 stereo system..............
Excuse my English, but this is not the same thing at all. From the Changelog of IOS 14.2GM, released last Friday.

Ability to connect HomePod to Apple TV 4K for stereo, surround sound, and Dolby Atmos audio

It´s actually a new feature of IOS 14.2, called Home Theatre for Apple TV 4K. The Homepod -single unit or a stereo pair, NOT the upcoming Mini-, will support Dolby 5.1, 7.1 and Atmos audio streams from an Apple TV 4K (not the HD model), thank to its beamforming capabilities to produce directional, spatial sound, will allow to be set as a permanent audio output to the Apple TV, AND will be able to receive audio from every app of TVOS, including, menus, video games ('https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1602844803') and IPTV.

To achieve this, you will need the final versions of TVOS 14.2, Homepod OS 14.2, and IOS 14.2, which will be available very soon .

Just need a bass and sound bar modules at this point. They work fine as a pair, with my Apple TV HD.
Bass? Soundbar? Are you kidding?? Apple is waaay behind the curve on home theater, the idea of using a pair of Home Pods with Apple TV to give a half-assed and unconvincing rendition of Dolby Atmos (lossy) without offering a soundbar or subwoofer is a lame substitute for offering us a real home theater experience. It's as if they've given up and conceded the whole market to Sonos.

For the love of Steve, please fix the AppleTV+ bugs, library won’t load large libraries, box sets don’t load properly, tons of latency in interface when pulling remote content, etc.
